MODE OF ACTION
Gelasponge supports rapid haemostasis by absorbing multiple times its own weight in blood, Flling the wound cavity, and stabilizing the blood coagulum. The highly porous structure of the sterile absorbable gelatin sponge provides a larger irregular surface area, capturing blood platelets and activating the coagulation cascade upon blood contact. This activation causes platelets to release substances that promote aggregation, effectively stopping the bleeding.
